Your Privacy Matters

At Free2Rest, we know that some of the things you share may be deeply personal.

You may come to Free2Speak because you need somewhere to express what you are carrying, ask for prayer, find support, or simply put something into words without attaching your identity to it.

We want you to understand what happens when you share something with us.

Our approach is simple:

Collect less. Protect what is shared. Be transparent about how we use it.

Using Free2Speak anonymously

You do not need to give us your name to submit a Free2Speak message or prayer request.

If you choose to share anonymously, we encourage you not to include information that could identify you or another person, such as:

  • your full name;

  • home address;

  • telephone number;

  • workplace or school;

  • identification numbers;

  • another person's private information; or

  • other details you do not want Free2Rest to know.

Please share only what you feel comfortable sharing.

A note about online anonymity

Although Free2Rest may not ask for your name, using a website is not always the same as being completely untraceable online.

Our website, hosting provider, form provider, security tools or analytics services may automatically process limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information or cookies.

We therefore do not promise absolute or technical anonymity unless we can verify that no identifying technical information is collected.

What we can promise is that Free2Rest will not intentionally ask you to identify yourself when you choose the anonymous Free2Speak option.

What happens to my message?

Depending on what you select, your message may be used to:

  • receive and review what you have shared;

  • respond to a request for prayer;

  • identify resources that may be helpful;

  • provide a response if you have specifically requested one;

  • understand the kinds of challenges our community is experiencing; or

  • help us improve Free2Rest resources and services.

We aim to use information only for the reason it was provided.

If I want a response

If you ask Free2Rest to respond to you, we may need a way to contact you, such as an email address.

Providing contact information is optional unless a response requires it.

Once you provide contact information, that particular submission is no longer completely anonymous to Free2Rest.

We will use the contact information you provide for the purpose you selected unless you separately agree to hear from us about something else.

Prayer requests

You may submit a prayer request without providing your name.

Prayer requests will not automatically be published or shared publicly.

If Free2Rest introduces a public prayer wall or community prayer feature, we will ask for your permission before publishing your words. You will always be able to request private prayer instead.

Will you publish what I share?

Not without permission.

We may occasionally want to share anonymous stories, experiences or themes to help others feel less alone or to inform Free2Rest resources.

If we want to publish your actual words, we will ask for clear permission where contact with you is possible. Where we analyse anonymous submissions collectively, we may identify broad themes such as loneliness, burnout, grief, financial stress or relationships without identifying individual people.

We will not intentionally publish identifying details from private Free2Speak submissions.

Who can see my message?

Access to Free2Speak messages should be limited to authorised Free2Rest team members or trained people who need access for an appropriate reason.

Where external technology providers help us operate our website, forms, email or data storage, those providers may process information as part of providing those services.

We aim to choose services with appropriate privacy and security protections and to limit access wherever reasonably possible.

How long do you keep messages?

We do not want to keep personal information simply because we can.

Free2Rest aims to retain Free2Speak messages only for as long as they are reasonably needed for the purpose for which they were submitted, safeguarding requirements, service improvement, or applicable legal obligations.

Our retention practices may vary depending on the type of submission.

Our final retention period to keep messages is 6 weeks after we receive it. After, we delete from our storage.

When information is no longer needed, we aim to securely delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.

Sensitive information

Free2Speak may receive information about difficult personal experiences, wellbeing, relationships, faith, family circumstances, abuse, grief, immigration experiences or other sensitive matters.

Please only share information that is necessary for what you want to tell us.

We treat this kind of information with particular care and aim to minimise unnecessary access to it.

Free2Speak is not an emergency service

Free2Speak is intended to provide a space to express yourself, request prayer and find helpful resources.

It is not a crisis, emergency, medical, counselling or psychotherapy service.

Messages are not necessarily monitored continuously, and you should not use Free2Speak if you require immediate assistance.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, at risk of serious harm, or thinking about suicide or self-harm, please contact an appropriate emergency or crisis service in your location rather than waiting for a Free2Rest response.

What if someone shares information about serious harm?

Our ability to intervene may be very limited when a message has been submitted anonymously and we do not know who or where the person is.

Where someone voluntarily provides identifying information and a serious safeguarding concern arises, there may be exceptional circumstances where information needs to be handled differently to protect someone from serious harm or to comply with applicable law.

We will aim to disclose only what is necessary in such circumstances.

We do not sell your personal information

Free2Rest does not intend to sell Free2Speak messages or personal information submitted through the service to advertisers or data brokers.

Your vulnerable moments should not become a product.

Your choices

Depending on the information you have provided and the privacy laws that apply to you, you may have rights concerning your personal information.

These may include requesting information about how your data has been used, requesting access, correcting inaccurate information, withdrawing certain consent, or asking for information to be deleted where applicable.

Anonymous submissions can be difficult or impossible for us to locate later if we have no information linking the submission to you.

If you contact us regarding a privacy request, we may need enough information to determine whether we hold information relating to you.

Our privacy principles

When developing Free2Speak, we aim to follow six principles:

  • Minimise: Collect only what we genuinely need.

  • Explain: Tell you what will happen before you share.

  • Respect: Treat personal stories as human experiences, not content.

  • Protect: Limit access and use appropriate safeguards.

  • Ask: Seek permission before using someone's words publicly.

  • Delete: Do not keep information indefinitely without a reason.

Questions or concerns

We want people using Free2Rest to feel comfortable asking questions about their privacy.

If you have a question, concern, request or complaint about how Free2Rest handles personal information, please contact:

Free2Rest Privacy Contact
Email: free2restproject@gmail.com

We will aim to review privacy concerns respectfully and transparently.

One thing to remember

You are in control of what you choose to share.

You do not have to tell us everything.

You do not have to use your real name.

And if all you need today is somewhere to put into words what you have been carrying, you can start there.

Free2Speak — You are seen and heard.
